TEXT AND PHOTOS- SPIRITUAL BATHS

Ritual bath, religious or magic ceremony involving the use of water to immerse or anoint a subject’s body. The many forms of baptism (q.v.), ranging from total submersion to a symbolic sprinkling, indicate how certain ritual baths can vary in form even while retaining the same purificational meaning. Ritual baths may be taken while the subject is dressed or nude, in churches or other buildings, in rivers, streams, or ponds; but often the bath and the locus have mutually reinforcing symbolic meanings, as in the tīrthayātrā (see tīrtha), the typical Hindu pilgrimage bath in a holy river or stream, or the upanayana (q.v.), the Hindu rite of initiation before a young man’s guru.

Like many of the surviving great modern faiths, primitive religions used the ritual bath for negative and positive purposes. To bring rain, for example, the Zande of Central Africa poured water over a person accused of delaying or preventing rain. By comparison, the Hebrew mikvah (q.v.) sought ritual purification through use of prescribed amounts and kinds of water. The Shintō follower practiced water ablution (q.v.)—a kind of ritual bath in microcosm—to prepare for a visit to a shrine. The Christian foot-washing (pedilavium), signifying humility, traditionally took place in the early church on Maundy, or Holy, Thursday to the accompaniment of chanted hymns.

Many ritual bath forms survive today. They may have undergone changes over the years, but generally they retain their basic meanings.

What Is A Spiritual Bath – And Why You Should Try One To Help Bring Positive Changes Into Your Life

A warm, relaxing bath – maybe with a few candles, a glass of wine and some ambient music – is a wonderful way to restore a tired mind and body after a long, stressful day.

Everybody knows that.

A `spiritual bath’, however, is a very different experience.

It’s a ritual – much like the ritual baths of ancient Rome — that actually cleanses your chakras, revitalizes your aura, and leaves you feeling more present, and in an extremely positive state of mind. This spiritual regeneration occurs not merely from the comfort of soaking in warm water, but from energies imparted by the powerful oils, herbs or crystals you have added to the bathwater.

Here is a quick primer on how to take a spiritual bath.

Try it! This amazing journey that will bring more positive changes into your life over time than you can possibly imagine.

What Is A Spiritual Bath?

Unlike a regular bath with soap, shampoo and water that cleanse the body, a spiritual bath works to cleanse the mind and spirit, using powerful ingredients that charge the bathwater with healing vibrations that help you remove blockages, hurts, pains and situations that are no longer serving you in any constructive way.

How To Prepare For A Spiritual Bath?

Step 1: Scrub the bathtub thoroughly first to make sure it is really clean.

Step 2: Set a mental intention that this time is totally yours and you will not be disturbed by texts, phone calls or visitors for the next hour or so.

Step 3: Take a quick shower and clean yourself first. Remember that no soaps or other cleansing agents can be used during a spiritual bath.

Step 4: Fill the bathtub with water at a temperature that feels most comfortable.

As the tub is filling up, gather all the ingredients you need (ingredients are given below). You may want to light an incense stick or a few candles or play some soothing music – anything that will relax your mind into a calm, meditative state. Release the tensions of the day, like you would in a spa, and focus on just enjoying yourself.

Step 5: Step into the bath and soak for about 20-30 minutes. As you relax in the water, clear your mind of all unwelcome thoughts and focus on your intention to let go of all stress and negativity. There is no right or wrong way to do this – as long as you’re relaxed and enjoying yourself.

Step 6: Spiritual baths are strong, and therefore you should not overdo them. Twice a month should be more than sufficient to start. Your inner guidance will let you know if you need more.

Spiritual Bath Ingredients

There are countless ways you can prepare spiritual baths with different ingredients of your own choosing. You can use just one or two ingredients or opt for even more. It is entirely your decision, so let your intuition guide you. But here are some very effective ingredients you can consider:

1: Salt:

Natural salt is one of the most powerful ingredients to release any kind of negative energies, thoughts and feelings that are proving to be blockages in your path. Pink Himalayan salt, natural sea salt and Epsom salt are great for this purpose and easily available in most grocery stores. Never use regular table salts because they contain anti-caking agents and have gone through a refining process that has removed many of the beneficial minerals.

2: Lavender:

Lavender is a great stress reliever, and you can use it in the form of dried buds (soaked in boiling water for an hour and strained) or pure essential oil.

3: Baking Soda:

Bicarbonate of soda, or baking soda, helps to clean negative debris from your aura, and leaves your skin feeling soft and smooth as well.

4: Goat’s Milk:

If you have been having a run of bad luck, then a spiritual bath with goat’s milk can help you turn around the situation. In a large bowl, add 3 cups of goat’s milk with a cup of holy water, sea salt and a handful of fresh parsley. (Parsley attracts good luck and wealth, and is also an herb associated with protection and purification.) Let the concoction sit for a few hours before straining the parsley out and pouring the remaining liquid into the bathtub.

5: Rose Cologne:

Rose cologne or rose water makes an excellent spiritual bath to uplift moods and make you feel more self-love if you’ve not been taking good care of yourself lately. Throw in some rose petals (fresh or dried) for good measure and let the fragrance of the bath fill your spirits with new energy and appreciation of who you are.

6: Sesame Seeds:

If you’ve been worrying about finances, then a spiritual bathwater infused with the vibration of sesame seeds (soaked for an hour in boiling water and strained) can help remove blockages and bring more abundance into your life.

7: Carnations:

Pink and red carnations soothe a broken heart and help guide you if you’re struggling with a love relationship. Boil fresh red and pink carnations in a pot of water with some coconut milk and honey. Strain the liquid and use as ingredients in your spiritual bath if you’re experiencing complications in your love life.

8: Readymade Spiritual Bath Sachets

If you are unable to prepare ingredients for a spiritual bath on your own, you can easy buy them online.

Choose according to the treatment you need, and enjoy the many beneficial properties of a spiritual bath that you’ll later wonder how you ever lived without!

3 Spiritual Baths to Cleanse Your Aura From Negative Energy

article-migration-image-aurabath2.jpg

Regularly cleansing your aura and your personal energy is an essential act. Whether or not you know it, you come into contact with various people and environments, all of which have their own energy vibrations. Not all of these frequencies are high and positive.

Thus, your energy field is constantly taking in and putting out vibrations, some of the vibrations (including your own thoughts, as well as external influences) are low and will bring you down if left unchecked. While our energy body is constantly readjusting itself to bring our energy back into harmony, the negative energies can linger and build up over time. A monthly salt water bath is an easy and very relaxing way to cleanse your aura of negative energy.

We’ve mentioned other methods before, so why a bath? It’s because it’s a great ritual that combines to tie in body and spirit. When you immerse yourself in a ritual bath, you are participating in an initiation to open yourself up spiritually.

Ritual bathing cleanses you from physical grime and negative spiritual grime, thus purifying both your body and your aura. It is a signal that you are willing to listen to your Higher Self and begin to trust something outside of your rational mind. It indicates that you are open to ask the universe to transform what you believe needs to be changed within yourself.

Taking a spiritual or ritual bath is meant to cleanse and protect a person spiritually; therefore, making it different from a normal bath you might do every day. There are very specific directions to follow in order to maximize the effect. Among these instructions is not using any soap, shampoo, or bath oil, etc. Once you step into the water, you are entering a spiritual experience, so it’s important to distinguish regular bathing from ritual bathing.

Benefits of Spiritual Bathing

Though they are different, spiritual bathing or ritual bathing can have great effects on your physical wellbeing, as well. According to Gateways to Inner Peace, here are just a few benefits:

  • The skin is an organ of elimination, and a saltwater soak will draw toxins and heavy metals from the tissues.

  • The essential trace minerals your body needs are absorbed through the skin to enhance your health

  • Skin conditions can be aided, as bacteria and other debris are also drawn from the skin, leaving it feeling fresh and rejuvenated

  • Circulation is increased, which your body can always use

Other important notes before getting started: this first bath is to be used only once a month, as it is very strong. It’s recommended to try it on a Friday close to a full moon for the best results. Energy therapist Lidia Frederico also advises, “do NOT prepare or have the bath around 6 am, 12 noon, 6 pm, 12 midnight. This– this includes half an hour before & afterward (so NOT between 5:.30-6:.30 or 11:.30-12:.30 for both am & pm)!”

3 Spiritual Cleansing Baths

To begin, clean the tub carefully. Take a shower before taking the ritual bath. Then, wash thoroughly with positive energy in the following ways.

Salt Water Bath

There’s nothing more relaxing than a nice, hot bath, and by adding saltwater, you can gain even more benefits for your skin. There’s a reason why they say that floating in the Dead Sea is so good for your skin, because the high salt content helps repair damaged cells, stimulate blood flow, and provides for a general detox. Bath salts such as Epsom salts are also an option as these contain other minerals that benefit the skin such as magnesium potassium.

  1. Make sure you won’t be disturbed for at least an hour. Optional: light candles or incense or play relaxing music. Utilize what makes your aura lighter.

  1. Fill your bath with warm water. The level is up to you. Don’t make it too hot.

  1. Add 2-3 good handfuls of salt. Use a good quality unprocessed salt, such as unrefined sea salt or Himalayan salt. Do not use regular table salt, as this has added anti-caking agents and has been refined, which removes beneficial minerals.

  1. Optional: Add a few drops of pure essential oils for aromatherapy purposes. Lavender is a good choice, as it will also help you to relax and unwind, and is generally very safe.

  1. Soak for about 20-30 minutes. While you do so, make it your intention to let go of all negativity. You can pray for the release of any energy that you no longer wish to carry, or that is not for your highest good. You can also ask for spiritual support to raise your spiritual vibration.

  1. For the best results, air dry when you get out of the bath. You may use a towel for your head and put a robe on, but do not towel dry. If possible, don’t take another shower or bath for 24 hours.

  1. Take a saltwater bath no more than once a week. As noted, once a month may be the perfect amount of time in between.

By following these seven steps you’ll be able to not only remove negative energy spiritually, but you’ll give yourself a nice physical detox from any buildup of toxins your skin might have accumulated.

All Natural Ocean Bath

This is a great way to go if you live near a body of saltwater. The timeless ocean has amazing healing properties. If you have ever had the joy of swimming in the sea, you’ll know how refreshed and wonderful you feel afterward. This is because of the aura-cleansing properties of the seawater.

Baking Soda Bath

Taking a bath using baking soda, or bicarbonate of soda will also cleanse your aura. Just use the same method as for the saltwater bath above. This bath will also leave your skin feeling nice and soft.

Other Cleansing Rituals

There are a number of other cleansing rituals you can combine with your bath or hold separately that can clear negative energy, while boosting positivity, good luck, good vibes.

Smudging Your Home

Before you begin your spiritual bath, smudge your bathroom—not only will it clear the space, but it will leave a pleasant, lingering aroma for you to enjoy while in the tub.

Smoke in general will kill bacteria and purify any space in which it is allowed to waft, which is why you should smudge. Typically sage is used in a smudging ceremony, but you can also use palo santo, essential oils, or any other cleansing herb to hold a purifying smudging ceremony. If this feels a little witchy, that’s because it is, especially if you decide to do it during a new moon. But don’t worry, we’re not putting a hex on anyone.

Check out this article for more info on how to smudge.

Using Crystals

Crystals such as amethyst, clear quartz, and selenite are great purifiers for any household. While some may be skeptical of crystals for anything other than aesthetics, crystals do in fact have electromagnetic properties that can attract certain energies. Embody your inner hippie and encircle your tub with healing crystals to draw out that negative energy and transmute it into something positive.

For more on the purifying properties of crystals check out this article.

There are many ways to purify your aura with spiritual baths, as well as a number of ways you can enhance the space in which you bathe. Remember that this process should be focused on self care, self-love, and honoring your higher spirit. Taking the time to clear any trapped negative energy in your life, you’ll notice immediate improvements to your soul’s eternal glow.
